Image Board Fixed

It took me five minutes to fix something that had been broken for almost a year, I had been baffled why it had broken in the first place before I read about php’s updates. Silly developers moving date functions about… Still www.photogabble.co.uk/projects/images/ now works.

This is a screen shot of a project I worked on a while ago, anonymous image uploading with the latest 100 being viewable on the front page. This was before I discovered the chan boards which are a little similar except instead of tagging images you annotate them. I wonder if I should revive this just for old times sake?

Say NO to long tumblr posts.

I’m slightly confused over why people feel the need to post long text posts in tumblr, don’t we have blogs for such things? I see tumblr as being the next stage up from twitter in the micro blogging world, where if a post is too short or too insignificant for a blog you post it to your tumblr. Maybe tumblr has moved on from this to become the next wordpress.com where people can come and host their blog advert free for free, either way I find it an annoyance to have my dashboard cluttered by excessively long posts. BTW I consider anything over say 300 words to be too long for tumblr, a post of that length really deserves to be posted to your blog. Then again, I could be wrong, would be nice to start a discussion on this subject.

According to the pub quiz last night...

Supermarkets are the most favorite location for a family day out at the weekends. What a sad, sad bunch of people we all are if that’s our idea of a fun family day out!

An update and news of tumblr wordpress plugin.

Hey everyone, this is just a quick update to let people who visit here know that I haven’t abandoned you all but have instead been loaded with an amazingly huge amount of university work which has to come first on my list of priorities. I have emailed a ton of people back whom are interested in the tumblr wordpress plugin as well as the one I have written for zenphoto to wordpress, I shall be continuing with these plugins next week once I have handed in all the work I need to complete for this week. So yes, I am still active, just about and once I have the time I shall be back to regular posting soon.

More on a tumblr-wordpress plugin.

With all that has been happening recently I have hardly had time to work on the tumblr-wordpress plugin, it is currently functional just not to an extent to which I feel happy about letting it loose to the wild Internet. By the time I am finished with it, it will automatically distinguish between normal text posts and image posts namely by searching the post for an image tag and then setting that image tags location as being the tumblr image post with any following text being the description. Keep on the look out for the first beta of the plugin being released soon, best ways is to subscribe to either my tumblr feed or my blog feed, in either case they are both the same thing ;)

From an anonymous protest against Scientology. One guy in a full-on V outfit made an announcement in a very dull and proper fashion that none of us could hear properly. We were busy heckling him (anonymous has no problem with criticising anonymous), when he reaches the end of his speech and presses play on a boombox. RICK ASTLEY: NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP (Ed: woo!) The crowd went fucking wild. 500 people rick-rolling the UK Scientology head office. It was at this point I saw the corners of the cops’ mouths twitch into smiles as they realised it was ok: we were from the internets. via nostrich Ed: Lol.

reblogged from : All Along the Watchtower

Homesick.

I have one question for you to answer, how can someone feel homesick when they are home? The only answer I can give for this question, itself questions our definition of home and of course home is “where the heart is” but what does that mean? It is an interesting thing to ponder, we all make homes for ourselves, many leave those homes when they reach a certain age and make a home for themselves but don’t each of us have a strong connection with that home which we where brought up in? I could never understand why people got home sick, I myself was quite happy out and about traveling and seeing how other people lived. I am an avid people watcher and while a lot of human behavior is understood as I myself posses similar manorisms I could never understand homesickness. I think I do now, and it also answers my questioning of what makes a home. A home is indeed where your heart is, but what if your heart is split between two places? With all your friends in one location and the one you love and your family in another. How do you make sense of the confliction between wanting to stay and wanting to leave? I do sometimes feel homesick, I am not saying it’s due to the aforementioned, its more a tugging missing of people rather than a particular place and in my case I bounce about from location to location enough to make sure I get to see everyone I miss. I suppose for those who suffer from homesickness all the time I have been given a taste of your conflict. I do not envy you for what you go through, but on the other hand I am happy in the knowledge that to feel homesick you have to care for people, or is it a selfish emotion? I don’t know, however it does make me feel better to think that  it does mean I care. For once certain emotions make sense, I guess you have to feel first to be able to understand second.
